soul darkness: The depression of a psychiatrist
seem so naive it may seem, we do not think all a little like the child who believes a doctor but could not get sick? But what remains of expertise and competence when a disease does violence to man? Prof. Dr. Piet Kuiper was celebrated as a luminary of Psychiatry overwhelmed by the monster, which he hailed lectured and wrote groundbreaking books.
tragedy and luck at the same time. For him because he was able to extend its expertise to an unexpected degree, although the way he would have voluntarily chosen not sure then. For readers this book, because they may participate in this most unusual journey into the abyss of human soul.
The book describes the history, the phase of the disease and its aftermath in a more sober and concise. Apparently, Kuiper stopped the advice of a good friend who put him to his heart: "Please Keep it factual, it is bad enough." Just because his report is as objective and yet so disturbing, the reader sensed the depth of horror and despair in this man came just before the scheduled end of his brilliant career. His conclusion at the nadir of depression: "There is nothing left of me."
He not only writes candidly about the Disease, but also the management of sick were being. The different reactions of people who were close to him or not so close to illustrate an oppressive that after overcoming the disease nothing is as it was. Anyone seriously interested in this disease and for the people concerned, the book will be read with great profit. But be disillusioned about the fragility of human life.
Donralfo says: By the way, Prof. Dr. Piet Kuiper a devout Christian ...
I have read the book recently and was shocked and grateful that my private hell yet not nearly as awful as the disease was this man. Read value for any depressive, it endures, and for relatives or friends of depression patients.
